High-quality training following the Japanese Kosen model
From March 7-10, Mr. Watanuki Yoshinori, Head of Project Promotion Office of Vietnam - Japan University in Japan and the Kosen delegation visited and worked at universities that have been implementing practical training programs following the Kosen model in Vietnam, including Hue Industrial College (HueIC).

At HueIC, which is effectively implementing the Kosen training model of Japan in the central region, Mr. Watanuki Yoshinori and members of the delegation directly visited the classrooms and practice rooms of the high-quality practical engineer training program following the Kosen model. The delegation also exchanged and discussed with school leaders about the advantages and disadvantages of implementing this training program at the school.
At HueIC, from the academic year 2019-2020, the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology major of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is the chosen field to deploy training following the Japanese Kosen model.
Up to now, HueIC has had 4 training courses with 118 students enrolled. In 2023, 58 students graduated and 100% of them had jobs, of which more than 50% of Kosen graduates at HueIC have worked at Japanese enterprises in Vietnam such as Canon Vietnam, Daiwa Vietnam Co., Ltd., Da Nang Mabuchi Motor Co., Ltd., Murata Manufactiring Vietnam Co., Ltd.… Three students have been recruited by Mitsubishi Elevator Company and currently working in Japan.
According to the proposal from HueIC, in the coming time, Kosen Vietnam will consider to continue to support the exchange of lecturers and students; implementing research programs and Robocon creation contests among students; supporting training equipments; connecting Japanese businesses in Vietnam and in Japan in training, researching, building and deploying the Japanese Language Training Center at HueIC.

Tran Huu Chau Giang, M.A., Vice President of HueIC, said that the Kosen model is a typical Japanese education system in training excellent practical engineers.
In the coming time, HueIC will continue to invest in facilities, equipment and staff... to continue developing this advanced training model, in order to improve the quality of human resources to supply the domestic and international labor markets, especially the source of high-quality practical engineers for Japanese enterprises in the two countries.
