At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Ngoc Tho reported to the delegation the results of implementing the socio-economic tasks in 2019 and the directions for 2020.
The province is determined to make 2020 a year of special significance, with the completion of the 5-year plan and the setting up of the 2021-2025 plan, especially the setting up of an action plan to implement projects according to the Politburo's Resolution No. 54 on construction and development of Thua Thien Hue to 2030, with a vision to 2045...
In particular, the aim is for Thua Thien Hue to become a municipality by 2025 on the basis of preserving and promoting the value of the Imperial ancient capital and Hue cultural identity, with cultural and heritage characteristics; smart and environmentally friendly eco systems and landscapes. This is the motivation for all branches, levels and people of the whole province to make every effort in their work, study, labor and production to build and develop Thua Thien Hue.
At the meeting, the leaders of ministries and branches gave many ideas to make great contributions to the implementation of institutional solutions to implement the Government's Resolution and, more importantly, the Resolution 54 of the Politburo.
“Very few provinces have a Politburo Resolution, so Hue needs to do well with specific policies and practical action plans and support from ministries and branches. Resolution 54 of the Politburo is a specific resolution of Thua Thien Hue province, so the mechanism, model and measures must also be specific and not mechanically applied,” said the Prime Minister.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assessed that after 10 years of implementing the Political Bureau's Conclusion 48, especially in 2019, Thua Thien Hue province has had many positive, comprehensive changes. There are many outstanding aspects of raising people's living standards, comprehensively completing many objectives and plans, with many reforms and innovations consistent with the development trend.
“The province has the lowest rich-poor gap in the Central region, especially in the mountainous districts. From Nam Dong to A Luoi, the lives of ethnic minorities have improved markedly. I have also praised Nam Dong many times as one of the mountainous districts asking to leave the 135 program the earliest,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Prime Minister said that not only economic stability but also cultural preservation, especially relics, tangible and intangible cultural heritages have been restored, embellished and given special attentions – this is an important foundation for the province's long-term sustainable development in the field of tourism.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the solidarity and unity of the provincial leaders' collective. He commented that this was positive for the big Party Committee, with a tradition of unity, to direct smoothly and operate effectively. Especially, technology is strongly applied in various fields. Thua Thien Hue is becoming a leading province in administrative management, in building e-government and smart cities, dealing with pressing issues of society and providing better care for the people ... This is an important foundation to help Thua Thien Hue develop stronger and faster.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the prevention task during the Corona epidemic. Currently, activities in Hue are still running normally. Tourists from disease-free countries and areas still come in large quantity. This is a positive phenomenon which other localities need to learn from.

Regarding Resolution 54, this is a project which the province has worked hard to build at all levels and sectors. It has been approved by the Politburo with many contents. All levels and branches of the province need to research and implement soon.
The Prime Minister noted that in the coming period, the province has to set the goal of building Thua Thien Hue with many bigger and higher goals, showing more determination and responsibility. “I request that the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, all levels and branches of Thua Thien Hue to have specific plans to implement effectively. At the same time, ministries and branches must do their best to create favorable conditions to support the province to implement Resolution 54 right from 2020 and the following years to achieve the best results," the Prime Minister said.
Regarding development solutions, the Prime Minister said that the province must promote its potentials and strengths which not all provinces have, such as: the intellectual area; tangible and intangible heritage; the life and career of the great men, thinkers, prominent figures, and talented people; rather than solely focusing on pagodas, tombs, and other physical heritages. Along with that, the province must bravely research and propose new mechanisms and models to attract sustainable development.
