The art of Bai Choi recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

TTH.VN - At 15:10 on December 7, 2017 (Vietnam time), at the twelfth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage taking place in Jeju Island, Republic of Korea, the art of Bai Choi in Central Vietnam was officially added to the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The art of Bai Choi in Central Viet Nam (in the provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Da Nang) is a diverse art combining music, poetry, acting, painting and literature. It takes two main forms: “Bai Choi games” and “Bai Choi performance”. 

That the Art of Bai Choi in Central Viet Nam is added to the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO affirms the rich cultural identity of Vietnam, the cohesion of the community, promotion of respect for cultural diversity, encouragement of dialogue between different individuals, communities and peoples for the tolerance, love and charity in accordance with the principles and objectives of the 2003 Convention on the protection of Intangible Cultural Heritages of UNESCO.
