Cutting the ribbon to open the Unit of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Department of Traumato - Orthopedic and Thoracic Surgery, Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy
This unit operates basing on 3 criteria, the first one is training. With the motto of a hospital belonging to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, continuous training courses (CME) will be organized quite professionally, including lectures, surgeries for illustration, practice on pig’s leg model under the guidance of experienced surgeons in the country as well as abroad.
The second criterion is technology transfer. Every year, the unit welcomes famous plastic and aesthetic surgery delegations from University of San Diego, Stanford University, Penn University, Mayo Clinic from the US; Yonsei University, Chonbuk University from Korea to directly perform surgeries and to establish CME classes to update new techniques and technologies in the world, helping domestic students have access to advanced techniques. Besides, the most important goal and also the third criterion is to improve the quality of service for patients.

Before coming up with the decision to establish the unit, in the past years, the Department of Traumato - Orthopedic and Thoracic Surgery, has conducted many surgeries in the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery. Every year, the department welcomes many professors and doctors specialized in plastic surgery - aesthetic surgery to perform surgeries directly, and to support and transfer their techniques. Typically, Tran Tien Foundation from the United States has participated in surgeries and transferring their techniques for more than 10 years; the Global Care from Korea has specialized in surgery on cleft lip, cleft palate, disfiguring scar repair from 2015.
From 2019, there will be ConnectMed International United States team of experts, including top professors in plastic-aesthetic surgery from US prestigious universities coming for surgeries, teaching and supporting technology transfer as well as training continuous training courses through Tele Medicine network.
On the same day, at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, a continuous training course on plastic- aesthetic surgery was opened. The training course takes place in 3 days (January 2 - 4) to update and improve the level of specialized knowledge of plastic surgery for surgeons in Hue and the Central - Highlands provinces.
This time, at the University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy, US professors directly performed free plastic-aesthetic surgeries for patients with congenital malformations and acquired defects (January 2 - 4).
